Council member walks in with red shirt, carrying hut on head

Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI) CPI(M) member Ch Sitaramulu today came to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council clad in a red shirt and carrying a miniature hut on his head to highlight the problem of 'housing for the poor', for which his party had been fighting for over two months.

Talking to newspersons before the start of the Monsoon Session of the House, Mr Sitaramulu said his party demanded land and house sites to be distributed among the poor, appointment of a commission on land reforms and an ombudsman on the irregularities committed in the implementation of 'INDIRAMMA' scheme and withdrawal of all cases foisted against his partymen with regard to the land movement.

He warned the government that his party would intensify the protest both inside the House and outside, if their demands were not immediately met.
