Congress partners and NCP assure vote for Patil
Shillong, Jul 17 (UNI) The partners of the Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government have reaffirmed their support to UPA presidential nominee Pratibha Patil.
The main opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) with its eight MLAs also announced their vote in favour of Ms Patil leaving behind their political enmity with the Congress.
''All the legislators belonging to parties constituting the MDA will vote for Ms Patil,'' Deputy Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma told UNI here today.
Dr Sangma said the NCP, along with two other Independent legislators, had also given their assurance to vote for Ms Patil.
However, the two BJP MLAs would vote for NDA-backed Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
