Arrangements in place for smooth polling in Prez Election

Jaipur, July 17 (UNI) All arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of polling in the July 19 presidential election to be held here at the designated polling booth in the Rajasthan Assembly complex.

Assistant Returning Officer N P Bhatt told UNI here today that all preparations have been made for polling in accordance with the Election Commission's guidelines.

He said ballot box and ballot papers had already been sent by the Election Commission along with authenticated voter list, containing names of 200 legislators.

Mr Bhatt said all the sitting 200 MLAs in the state are eligible to vote.

Besides, 25 Lok Sabha and 10 Rajya Sabha MPs from the state have the option of exercising their franchise either in Jaipur or in Parliament House in New Delhi but none of them had sought permission from the Election Commission to cast their vote in Jaipur.

The polling will be held between 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs on Thursday, Mr Bhatt said.

The ballot box will be sent back to the Returning Officer's office in Parliament on July 20 morning for counting, he added.
