AIADMK to stage demo against DMKs failure to build MLA office

Chennai, July 17 (UNI) The main opposition AIADMK will stage a demonstration in the city on July 20 to protest against the ruling DMK's failure to build MLA office at T Nagar and for allegedly stalling emergency works in that area sanctioned under the MLA Constituency Development Fund.

In a statement here today, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa said the demonstration would be held in front of the Chepauk Government Guest House and would be presided by party T Nagar MLA V P Kalairajan and Party Presidium Chairman E Madhusoodhanan.

Ms Jayalalithaa charged the DMK government with adopting a vindictive attitude towards Mr Kalairajan, who had applied for construction of the MLA office in a Corporation land at ward-127, near the T Nagar bus terminus.

The application was forwarded to the Corporation Commissioner through the office of the Assembly Secretary, but the Corporation council had rejected it with an ulterior motive, she said and added even the funds alloted for the construction of the building remained unutilised.

Ms Jayalalithaa also alleged that the government had not executed the projects for the T Nagar area that were sanctioned under the MLA Constituency Fund.
