Puducherry: Lawyers boycott court proceedings
Puducherry, July 16: Work in all the courts in Puducherry was affected as lawyers here staged a boycott today.
The agitation was to protest the reported move of the government to inaugurate the new court complex on July 29 to which bar association sources alleged the construction work was not yet over.
It was planned to shift the civil courts to the new premises and retain the criminal courts in the present building which was not acceptable to the lawyers.
Besides, there was no chamber for the bar association in the new premises, the association claimed.
The general body meeting of the bar association was under progress now. Further course of action would be decided during the proceedings.
