Three killed, 7 injured as building collapses in Chandni Chowk
New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) Three people, incluidng a 60-year-old man, were killed and seven others injured when a three-storeyed building collapsed in Chandni Chowk area of Central Delhi early this morning.
Those killed are Firdaus (60), Sammeda (55) and Tayyab (13), said a senior police official, adding that rescue operations were still on.
The seven injured in the building located in Baradari, Ballimaran area of Chandni Chowk have been admitted to different hospitals, said the Fire Brigade.
About a dozen people were inside when the building, situated in a narrow lane, collapsed at about 0200 hrs, said the Fire Brigade adding that ten tenders were rushed for rescue operations.
Even after nearly ten hours of operations two teams were still sifting through the rubble for anyone trapped, it said.
The building was old and reportedly collapsed due to heavy rains a day before.
