Six miners killed in blast in Chamarajanagara

Chamarajanagara, Karnataka, July 16 (UNI) Six miners were killed in an explosion that rocked a store room in Kuthalavadi village, 20 km from here, in the early hours of today.

Police said the explosion took place in a room where the explosives were kept. The mine workers were also sleeping in the room. While five of them were killed instantaneously, the sixth person succumbed to burns in a local hospital.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately available, and the District authorities have rushed to the spot. Police said the bodies have been disfigured beyond recognition.

In the meanwhile Chamarajanagara Tahsildhar, Puttaraju who was on his way to the blast site was involved in an accident as the jeep in which he was travelling overturned. he has been admitted to the Chamarajanagar Government Hospital.
