Rathyatra begins in Jharkhand with fervour

Ranchi, Jul 16 (UNI) Thousands of devotees chanting "haribol" took part in Rathyatra, which began from famous Jagannath temple here from today.

The idols of Lord Jagannath along with his elder brother Lord Balavadra and younger sister Devi Subhadra were taken out separately in newly constructed and well-decorated charriots from the main temple here.

The chariots pulled by devotees would be taken to Mausibari temple, where the the idols would be kept for nine days.

The district administration made elaborate arrangement to thwart any untoward incident during the programme.

Reports from other parts of the state said the festival was being celebrated with religious fervour.

No untoward incident had been reported so far from the state.
