Paswan for SC/ST reservation in Judiciary and Pvt Sector

Jaipur, July 16 (UNI) Union Chemical and Fertilizer Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan today demanded job reservations for scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes(ST) in the judiciary and private sector.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Paswan said that presently, the SC and ST community people were getting reservation in government services but they were not getting the same benefits in recruitments in Judicial services and the private sector.

While benefits of reservation to these clasess in the Judicial services could be extended by constitution of Indian Judicial Service(IJS), the same could be extended in private sector through promulgation of a special act, he said.

The act should be enacted by Parliament as the UPA was committed for the same in its common minimum programme(CMP).

He also stressed upon extending benefits of reservation in Army.

Mr Paswan, reiterated his ministry's resolve to bring 354 life saving drugs under the list of controlled priced drugs. Presently, 72 drugs were enlisted in this list.

He said the proposal, part of proposed new drug policy, was presently being considered by the Group of Ministers(GoMs) and was likely to get clearance soon.

He said the proposed new drug policy also had the provision of free health insurance for poor people.
