Mann's judicial custody extended till July 30

Jalandhar, July 16 (UNI) A local court today extended the judicial custody of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Mann and 20 others till July 30.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Varinder Kumar, after hearing the arguements, again extended the judicial custody of Mann and 20 others, arrested under sedition charges, for a period of 14 days.

However, the CJM fixed July 19 for hearing, after a reply was filed by the prosecution on the petion filed by Mann's counsel under section 227 of the IPC for dropping of charges filed against Mann and 20 others.

Mann, along with SAD (Zaffarwal) chief Wassan Singh Zaffarwal and 19 other party workers including a woman were arrested on May 14 for descrating the statue of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh at the BMC Chowk here.
