K'taka govt extends out-patient treatment services
Bangalore, July 16 (UNI) The Karnataka Government's initiative to extend the service of out-patients treatment till late hours in the evening in its hospitals has proved to be a success, Health and Family Welfare Minister R Ashok today informed the State Legislative Council here.
Replying to Congress Member Salim Ahmed, the minister said the government had taken the decision to extend out-patient treatment service upto 2030 hrs in 152 Community Health Centres, 139 taluk hospitals, 42 in district hospitals and other main hospitals from first week of this month.
He said people, especially the working class, had immensely benefited from the state government's decision.
He said the government would be spending an additional Rs 30 crore per annum towards payment of incentives to doctors and other medical staffs who work during the extended hours.
