JSW Beng Steel to start land acquisition next wk from pvt owners

Kolkata, Jul 16 (UNI) Sajjan Jindal owned JSW Bengal Steel will start land acquisition next week from the private owners for the company's 10 million tonne integrated steel plant at Salboni in West Midnapore district, JSW Bengal CEO Biswadip Gupta said.

Speaking to UNI, Mr Gupta said, '' We are waiting for a final order to be issued by the Land Revenue department for acquiring vested land this week.'' Mr Gupta said production is expected to start from April 2011.

Mr Gupta said around 4,500 acres would be required for the plant.

Out of this around 3,000 acres would be taken from the government at Rs 1.94 lakh per acre -a rate fixed by the Land and Land Reforms department.

He said,''We will start acquiring 500 acre from private holders at rates varying between Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 3 lakh per acre.

Mr Gupta, who came to meet Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today at Writers' Building, to donate a cheque of Rs one crore for the flood-affected people of Bengal.
