Govt to distribute lands to landless poor; AP CM

Hyderabad, July 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the State Government was committed to distribute one lakh acres of land to the landless poor in the State by November this year.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Government had already acquired 25,000 acres of land and the remaining would be identified to distribute among the poor.

Dr Reddy said the Government would take steps to get back its encroached 50-lakh acres of lands and assigned lands from the land grabbers to distribute them to landless poor.

Regarding the implementation of GO 610, he said the Government was committed for the implementation of GO as decided in the Cabinet. Asked about the petition filed in the court against the GO by Congress MP Harirama Jogaiah, the Chief Minister said he was an MP and the High Command would look into the matter.

On the Left parties' agitation in the State for house sites to the poor, he said the Government would construct houses for the poor and launch housing schemes for them.

On corruption charges against the Government by the Telugu Desam Party, he said the TDP had not proved even a single charge against the Government during the last three years. The Government was ready to reply to TDP's charges, he added.
