Bangalore, July 16 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today said a meeting would be held to discuss the aftermath of police encounter in which five 'naxalites' were killed near Menasinahadya village in Chikamagalur district last week.

Replying to a query by BJP Member Prahbhakar Bangera during the zero hour in the Legislative Assembly, Mr Prakash said the elected representatives of four naxal-affected districts, coming under Westren Ghats officials would take part in the meetings along with police officials and Home department officials.

The encounter was condemned by several activists, who accused the police of killing four innocent tribals, branding them as naxalites, while the other deceased person was confirmed to be a naxal leader.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa would also attend the meeting as he is holding the finance portfolio, he said.

Mr Prakash said that he had asked the police officials to visit the spot and elicit information immediately on the latest law and order situation in the region and submit a report to the Government.

The minister said the Home Department would also hold a meeting of elected representatives of the other districts, affected by naxals' presence soon.
