Indore, July 16 (UNI) A statue of a girl child was today unveiled in the Indian Institute of Management (Indore) campus here with the objective of underlining the necessity of educating girls.

Unveiling the statue, which was installed outside the library, IIM(I) Director Dr S P Parashar said the statue would give a very profound message to everyone, including visitors, that girl education should be a national priority.

He pointed out that statues had been used throughout human history for communicating deeper philosophical thoughts.

Describing statues as cost-effective means of communication, Dr Parashar, who conceived the idea of this statue, said statues bore important messages, triggered imagination of viewers and inspired them.

The idea of the statue was conceptualised and developed by Mr Amit Ganjoo, Director, School of Fine Arts, IPS Academy, Indore.

Mr Ganjoo explained that the concept used in this statue was 'abstraction' and not 'realism', as message of abstraction or normative should go from the portals of a National Center of Excellence like IIM (Indore).
