EC Observer for Prez poll to visit Chennai on July 18

Chennai, July 16 (UNI) Election Commission (EC) Observer for the July 19 Presidential poll, S K Srivatsava, will arrive here on July 18.

Informing this in a release here today, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said the entire polling process would be videographed as per the directions of the EC.

He said the election to the top Constitutional office was by the system of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote. The voters would have as many preferences as the contesting candidates. Since there were only two candidates in the fray, the voters should mark their preferences in words opposite to the names of the candidates. The second preference was optional.

The EC had specified the Legislature Committee room as the polling venue.
