DTC bus driver gets 6 months' RI for crushing woman to death

New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) A DTC bus driver was today sentenced to six months' rigorous imprisonment for running over a woman, nine years ago.

Driver Ram Avtar, was at the wheels of the bus that had crushed Mehr Kaur, aged 39, to death while she was crossing the road in Old Delhi area on June 17, 1998. He was charged with rash and negligent driving.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Goel who handed down the order, also asked him to pay up a fine of Rs 1000.
