Congress not to demand ban on Pamela Mountbatten book
New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) The Congress Party today sought to downplay the revelations in a book that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and last Viceroy Mountbatten's wife Edwina were in ''deep love,'' and said it had no plan to demand any ban on the book.
''We don't ban books...We have never done that,'' AICC Spokesman Devendra Dwivedi told mediapersons at the routine briefing at the party headquarters here.
''The author (Pamela, the daughter of Mountbattens) has narrated certain things from her memory...imagination,'' he said, and refused to say anything more on the subject.
In her book ''India Remembered: A Personal Account of the Mountbattens during the Transfer of Power,'' Pamela recalled the special relationship her mother shared with the first Prime Minister of India.
