BJP, ABVP, BJYM activists ransack JNTU, Osmania varsity
Hyderabad, July 16 (UNI) Activists of the BJP, ABVP and BJYM were today arrested when they ransacked the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and Osmania University in protest against the ordinance, providing for four per cent reservation to Muslims in education and employment, promulgated by the State Government recently.
Police said the activists entered the premises of JNTU and Osmania varsity, where counselling for MBA and MCA courses began this morning.
Obstructing the counselling, the activists damaged the furniture and computers at the venue. Police arrested them immediately.
Condemning the arrests, BJP Secretary N Indrasena Reddy, in a release here, alleged that the police were visiting the houses of local BJP workers and harrassing their family members. He demanded that the Government withdraw the ordinance.
