Anti-terror CRPF battalion deployed at Kashi Vishwanath

Varanasi, July 16 (UNI) After countering terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel trained in anti-terror and commando skills have been deployed at the highly sensitive Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex here.

All seven companies of CRPF 95th Battalion have been drafted in the three-tier security of the complex which houses the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple and Gyanwapi mosque.

They have replaced their 40th Battalion which was earlier posted at the complex, Additional Police Superintendent (Gyanwapi) Vikramaditya Sachan said here today.

The batallion posted for the last three years in J&K is specialised in anti-terror skills and also comprises quick reaction teams (QRTs) trained in commando skills, CRPF sources maintained.

The arrival of the 95th battalion in the complex security is likely to further streamline the security ahead of the auspicious month of 'Shrawan' starting July 31, when a heavy influx of devout will be witnessed at the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The central force will perform duties at the complex alongwith the Uttar Pradesh police and PAC personnel.
