List of Haj pilgrims selected through draw of lots

Chennai, July 15 (UNI) As many as 3,384 pilgrims from confirmed list and 100 under waiting list were selected for Haj-2007 from Tamil Nadu at the Qurrah (draw of lots) held here yesterday.

An official release here today said about 6,766 applications had been received this year.

It said of the 3,384 pilgrims, 77 pilgrims of 75 years and above had been confirmed and 3,307 pilgrims were selected under General Quota. Apart from this, 100 were selected under waiting list.

Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee Chairman J M Haroon Rashid, MP, who inaugurated the Qurrah through computer, said efforts would be made to get additional quota from the Centre.

''As soon as additional quota is released, all the wait-listed applicants would be confirmed, apart from others depending upon the additional quota,'' he said.

The unsuccessful applicants would be given refund of the advance towards foreign exchange paid by them, if they so desired immediately, he added.
