Kozhikode, July 14 (UNI) The Youth Congress (YC) in Kerala today demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged bond deal by 'Deshabhimani', the CPI(M) organ in the state.

Talking to newspersons here, YC state president T Siddique said an investigation by the Central agency could only unravel the truth in the Rs two crore deal with a lottery kingpin and alleged acceptance of Rs one crore by a former top official of the daily from a private financial institution.

''People cannot expect a fair investigation'' from the Vigilance Department, which was under the direct control of the CPI (M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the state, he said while referring to the probe ordered by a Vigilance Court yesterday into the case.

He said CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat, who had expressed his views through his articles 'People's Democracy' against the daily indulging in financial deals, should be made the main witness in the case.

The YC would stage dharnas before the district collectorates on July 23 to press their demand, he added.
