Regional Tax Council meet held in Surat

Surat, Jul 14 (UNI) A 'regional tax council' was held here today by the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) where top officials deliberated on the need for Chartered Accountants in the State.

State's Minister for Finance, Energy, Petro-chemicals and Planning Mr Sorab Patel was the chief guest for the function.

He said ''Every government department should have a chartered accountant (CA) because every field needs experts. Gujarat is one of the fastest growing State and the planning commission has the target of 12.5 per cent growth rate in the State. The state has planned a 14 per cent growth in industry, 10.5 per cent growth in service and a 5.5 per cent growth in agriculture.'' As the industry flourishes the CA also flourishes. A growing industry needs a good chartered accountant. The best example for this is the Reliance group, they have a high qualified group of CA's which is one of the reason for there growth, he said.

He also informed that the Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat International Finance for the development of a taxcity in a 500 acres area in Gandhinagar and the government has started to push up the business which has target of direct white collar jobs and indirect jobs too.

Others present on the occasion were WIRC Chairman Mr Praful Chajad, Surat branch Secretary of WIRC Mr Sunil Patolia and V K Rathi.
