Puri car festival goes global

Puri, July 14 (UNI) For the first time, people across the world can access the famous Puri car festival live, through surfing the website.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) would launch a special website on behalf of the Sri Jagannath temple administration to carry several aspects of the Lord and enable his followers to witness live presentation of Rath Yatra.

The website has been developed to entertain online donations using international credit cards through two websites of the temple administration -- www.jagannath.nic.in and www.rathyatra.nic.in In a bid to promote the Lord of the universe in big way in the international arena, noted Oriya film director and producer Sabyasachi Mohapatra has recently launched a mega film '' Jai Jagannath'' in fifteen languages, including English and Nepali.

According to Mr R N Behera of NIC, the chief architect of the web, many international banking institutions had been roped into the project and the web is expected to be launched tomorrow.

Devotees, he said, could donate round the year by using credit cards through www.jagannath.nic.in.

While the Doordarshan (National) would telecast live, the rath yatra on July 16, its regional channel DD Oriya, the E TV and local OTV would telecast both Rath Yatra and the Bahuda yatra and the famous Sunavesh of the Lord.
