Punjab Vigilance arrest Delhi-based associate of Chahal
Patiala ,July 14 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Delhi-based businessman Baldev Singh Dhillon, who is said to be a close associate of B I S Chahal, media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
Dhillon, who was brought here from Delhi, was sent in police custody for two days by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) K K Karir.
Vigilance sources said Dhillon was arrested in Delhi by a Vigilance team on the information revealed by Chahal during his interrogation in a disproportionate assets case registered at Patiala on Thursday. Chahal has been behind bars for the last one month in two fraud cases and an attempted murder case registered by Punjab Police.
Dhillon was arrested from his office situated at Tilak Marg, New Delhi.
The Vigilance Bureau alleged that Dhillon had amassed crores of properties and indulged in Benami properties of Chahal.
Sources further said that Dhillon, who was a property dealer in Patiala, had moved to Delhi in 1988. D hillon had started a transport business in Delhi, in which he had suffered losses and he then came in touch with Chahal.
Sources further said that Dhillon met Capt Amarinder Singh through Chahal and he was involved in various land deals at the behest of the former chief minister.
Dhillon again started his transport business in New Delhi in 2002 when Congress government led by Capt Singh came to power in Punjab.
Presently Dhillon owned 37 trailers in Delhi, 15 ten-tyre trucks and 11 Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). It was also alleged by the Vigilance officials that Chahal had given Dhillon Rs 55 lakhs during the previous Congress Government.
Meanwhile, Chahal was brought here on the expiry of judicial remand in two different cases of forgery and cheating registered by Patiala police against him. He was produced in the court of K K Karir, Judicial Magistrate. The court has sent him to judicial custody till July 28.
