Punjab Police to intensify PCR patrolling: DGP
Jalandhar, Jul 14 (UNI) To put a curb on the rising crime graph in Punjab, Director General of Police NPS Aulakh today directed the officials to ensure round-the-clock PCR patrolling in cities.
In order to strengthen the functioning of PCR, 100 new motorcycles would be bought, said the DGP while talking to media persons here today. These motorcycles would not only be used in cities but also be used for police patrolling in the rural areas, he added.
After the recommendation of the ADGP (Security), 200 police personnel, who were relieved from the security duties, would now be adjusted in the PCR, said the DGP.
For the modernisation of police force, the state government had sanctioned its 25 per cent share of the fund and the remaining 75 per cent would be released by the Centre, the DGP said.
With this fund, more residential complexes would be built, police stations would be upgraded and computerised, he said.
The DGP was here to review the law and order situation and had a meeting with the senior police officials of the Jalandhar range. He directed the officials to improve efficiency in arresting proclaimed offenders, drug peddlers and in maintainng law and order.
