One woman charred to death in AP village
Peddapuram, July 14 (UNI) In a ghastly incident, some unidentified persons today burnt alive a woman and her grandson at Srungavruksham village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
Deputy Superintendent of Police J S Rama Rao told UNI that the woman D Ratnam (45) was a member of the gram panchayat and a TDP worker.
He said Ratnam and her grandson Veerababu (12), were sleeping at her residence along with one old-aged woman Achayamma late last night. At about 0200 hrs, some unidentified persons set fire to the house by sprinking petrol. Ratnam was charred to death and two others sustained serious injurious.
The injured were admitted to Tuni Government Hospital where the boy succumbed to his injuries, he said, adding Achayamma was shifted to Government General Hospital at Kakinada for further treatment as her condition was stated to be serious.
Personal vendetta was suspected to be the reason for the incident, police added.
A case has been registered and investigation was underway.
