Man dupes woman of her jewellery

Nadiad, July 14 (UNI) A man allegedly duped a woman at the Samdi chakla area of the town on Thursday.

The complainant, Saraswati Arvind Patel, a widow, was at her home alone in the morning on that day when a man came and said he had come to the town to attend a marriage from the US. He gave his name as Raju and said he knew her late husband's brother, settled in the US, very well, police said.

He further said since he was unable to trace the locker key here and he asked Saraswati to loan her jewellery for his wife and assured her that he would return it by late evening.

Unsuspecting Saraswati gave him five gold bangles and a gold chain worth Rs 48,000. Next day, when he failed to turn up, she became suspicious and filed a complaint, police added.
