Jail authorities deny monitoring Monica using cameras
Bhopal, July 14 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today denied media reports of surveillance of underworld don Abu Salem's starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi -- lodged in central jail here at present -- using close-circuit cameras.
''There is no question of monitoring a jail inmate in such a manner. Though close-circuit cameras are fitted at the entrance, it is a part security arrangement,'' Inspector General (Jail) R K Diwakar told UNI.
Media reports had claimed that surveillance of Monica was being carried out in the jail and cameras had been installed even in bathroom.
Jail Superintendent P D Somkunwar also described the reports as baseless.
Monica is facing trial in a fake passports case here. She has been incarcerated in the central jail here since past eight months.
A final decision is likely to come up during hearing on July 16.
