IIT-B announces new academic initiatives
Hyderabad, July 14 (UNI) IIT, Bombay, Director Dr Ashok Mishra today announced the launch of new academic initiatives for its Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG) and PhD programmes, as part of the golden jubilee celebrations, to be launched from September 5 to March 10, 2009.
Addressing the media here, he said the four-fold IIT-B golden jubilee new academic initiatives included innovative and flexible curricula for UG, PG and PhD students. In addition to the basic B Tech, students who aspire for diverse learning could now avail the opportunity to apply for either a B Tech honours or B Tech with two minors.
Stating that the IIT Bombay's golden jubilee year was a landmark occasion to celebrate its heritage and embark on new academic initiatives that would aid students, Dr Mishra said IIT Bombay would be one of the competitive research institutes in the world by 2015.
He said the Institute had proposed to raise Rs 500 crore for its upgradation -- Rs 200 crore each from alumni and corporate houses and Rs 100 crore to be generated from the Government.
