Chandigarh, July 14 (UNI) With a view to ensure remunerative prices for khair trees, the Haryana Government has granted permission to the growers to sell their trees directly in the market after getting the necessary approval from the Forest officials.

While stating this here today, Minister of state for Forests, Mrs Kiran Choudhry said the government had made amendments in its earlier notification keeping in view the interests of the farmers. She said as per the notification khair growers of Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar districts could sell their trees only to the Haryana Forest Department.

Mrs Choudhry said the farmers or growers of these districts were persistently demanding that they should be given permission to sell their trees at their own level or through any agency so that they could get more benefit. She said now the farmers of the three districts would have the liberty to sell their khair trees to any individual or through an agency of the Forest Development Corporation.

She made it clear that the growers could sell their khair trees only after getting permission from the respective Divisional Forest Officer.
