Bangalore, July 14 (UNI) Terming as ''totally baseless and unfair'' the charges against Dr Mohammed Haneef, detained by the Australian Police in connection with the failed Glasgow bombing, his wife Firdous today asserted that the Police had framed him as it could not find anything substantial against him.

The Australian Police charged Dr Haneef with extending support to a terrorist organisation by providing his SIM card to his cousins Sabeel and Kafeel Ahmed, who have been detained in England in connection with the case.

Talking to newspersons here, soon after hearing the news about the charges framed against her husband, Ms Firdous said, ''Why did the Australian Police wait for 12 days to press these charges against him?'' According to her, the Australian Police were aware from day one that Dr Haneef had left his SIM card with his cousins.

Ms Firdous, who had been eagerly waiting for the news of her husband's release, was extremely disappointed and angry. She said since the police could not find anything substantial against him, they had framed him.

''I was expecting them to release him. But they have decided to frame the charges after such a long delay,'' Ms Firdous added.
