Former Mayor Panditrao Khaire passes away
Nashik, Jul 14 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader and Former Mayor of the city Panditrao Khaire died of minor illness today.
He was 61-year-old.
He was suffering from liver disease for the past several days. He is survived by three sons and a daughter, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.
Panditrao Khaire was the Mayor of the city in 1994-95. He was also the Municipal Council President in 1970. He had been known as a staunch Congress loyalist.
Many department works were done during his tenure as the Mayor of the city. The foundation of Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarter of the Nashik Municipal Corporation, was laid during his tenure. The proposal of Kashyapu dam was also approved during his tenure.
Nashik Mayor Vinayak Pande, Dy Mayor Ajay Baraste, Congress city president MLA Dr Shobha Bachhar, MP Devidas Pigle, NCP leader MLC Dr MLC Dr Vasant Pawar, former MP Uttamrao Dhikle, expressed grief over Khaire's death.
Khaire's funeral was performed at Amardham crematorium here in the evening. People from various walks of life attended the funeral.
In a twist of fate, wife of the former mayor Nirmala Khaire (59), died, last evening only and Mr Khaire died during the wee hours at today.
