Father-son held for killing daughter, husband

Jalandhar, July 14 (UNI) A man, aided by his son, allegedlly abducted and killed his daugher and her husband for marrying against their wish in village Kangna under Shahkot Police Station, police today said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Arpit Shukla said that Kartar Singh and his son Joginder Singh of village Roli under Mehta Police Station were nabbed from Gidderpind in Firozepur district last night.

The SSP said Kartar Singh along with his son and other accomplices abducted his daughter Baljeet Kaur and her husband Ashwani Kumar from village Kangna under Shahkot Police Station on Thursday evening. The accused after killing the couple, threw their bodies in river Beas near Goindwal, the SSP added.

The SSP said that Baljeet Kaur, who married Ashwani Kumar of village Kangna against the wishes of her parents, was living along with her husband in a rented accomodation in the same village.

A case against the accused was registered and further investigations were on to nab the remaining culprits and also to recover the bodies from the river, he said.
