Tiruvallur, July 14 (UNI) Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) President Thol Thirumavalavan today said his party will resort to agitation on August 6 in front of the 'Drowpathi Amman' temple at Tarangampadi in Nagapattinam District to protest against the denial of entry by the temple authorities to backward castes.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Thirumavalavan said he would lead a procession in Chennai on July 17, as a part of his party's statewide agitation against the denial of entry to the backward castes, especially to Dalits, in temples. A separate law should be enacted for all communities to offer worship in temples, he added.

The DPI leader said the Tamil Nadu Government should appoint a Committee to solve the problem of Panchami land.

He lauded Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's decision to provide three eggs in the noon-meal scheme.
