BJP to agitate for bifurcation of AP

Hyderabad, July 14 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party will step up its campaign for formation of separate Telangana state by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh in the next two months, BJP State President B Dattatreya said today.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the party would embark on a signature campaign in all the villages of state and call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in September to press the demand for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Dattatreya accused Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy of increasing regional disparities with an alleged bias for new irrigation projects in his native Rayalaseema region at the cost of Telangana and coastal Andhra regions.

The Telangana Porata Samiti and the Andhra Udhima Samiti would hold a series of meetings in the respective regions in the next two months for building a people's movement and exert pressure on the United Progressive Alliance Government for formation of two states, by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, he added.
