Assam Police denies report of Ram's presence in the room
Guwahati, July 14 (UNI) The Asom Police today denied media reports that FCI Executive Director P C Ram was shot dead even after he disclosed his identity.
Contrary to the claim of security agencies' that Ram was killed in the crossfire between ULFA and security personnel, Pravin was quoted as saying in New Delhi that his father was ''murdered''.
Yesterday, Ram's son had demanded a CBI inquiry into the ''murder'' of his father, and there were indications that he would go for a second autopsy.
''Ram's son Praveen Gautam has been quoted as saying that Dr P C Ram was to be released on July 12 by ULFA. The Asom Police would like to clarify that Praveen Gautam had at no point of time shared this information with the police and civil authorities of the state and such reports have come to our notice after Ram's son returned to New Delhi,'' the Asom Police chief PRO said in a statement.
''How come all three persons, including my father, killed in the encounter had bullet injuries in the head ? He was killed by security personnel because their failure to free him for several months had tarnished their image. The security agencies also feared that he could have revealed certain informations that could have embarrassed them. The encounter was stage-managed,'' Pravin alleged.
Meanwhile, the police are interrogating the family members of Gobinda Deka in whose house Ram was killed.
While Gobinda and his wife were interrogated yesterday, their daughters were questioned yesterday.
A senior police official said, ''we are inquiring into the incident. Questions like on what ground did they allow the ULFA cadres to live in their house, from when they were holed in there and why they failed to inform the police are being looked into.
