Amity to set up university in HP soon, says CM

Shimla, Jul 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said two universities in private sector are likely to be granted permission in the near future.

The government has granted permission to Amity to set up a university near Dharamshala in Kangra district the state and would be named after the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, he said while addressing the fourth annual function of Bushahr Kalyan Sabha last evening.

Mr Singh said the setting up of these universities would supplement the endeavour of the state government in spreading its extent.

The government would ensure that only financially viable parties were allowed to set up their institutions here, he said.

He said his government would take up restoration and reconstruction work of all prominent ancient religious shrines in the state in a phased manner.

A sum of Rs 2.60 crore were being spent on tourism promotion activities in Sarahan-Jeori-Srikhand tourism circuit and effective steps were underway to finalize the ropeway project connecting Bashal with Sarahan, he said.

The Chief Minister said Rs 50 crore project had been posed for funding for promotion of tourism related activities and creation of way-side amenities and restoration of prominent religious shrines on the Hindustan-Tibet road.
