Alleged HUJI activist arrested from North 24 Parganas
Barasat, West Bengal, Jul 14 (UNI) An alleged Harkat-Ul-Jihadi Islami (HUJI) carrier was arrested during a raid at his residence in North 24-Parganas district.
Official sources said here today that Nur Islam (32), an associate of dreaded HUJI militant Jalaluddin, picked up earlier by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, was arrested last night from his residence in Bansghata village by the state CID.
Jalaluddin, a one-time resident of the South 24-Parganas district, was suspected to be involved in the Sharamjeevi Express blast and also blasts in Delhi, Mumbai and Varanasi in 2005.
Islam was brought to Bhavani Bhavan in the city last night for interrogation by the CID sleuths, sources said.
Islam used to visit Bangladesh and several other countries acting as an alleged carrier of the HUJI. It was not known if arms were found with him.
