Vijaya Bank to open overseas branch

Hubli, July 13 (UNI) Vijaya Bank has received the RBI clearance to open its first overseas branch, proposed to come up in Dubai, Hong Kong, China or Malaysia.

Talking to newspersons here today, Bank Executive Director T Valliyappan said the bank targetted a total business of Rs 76,000 crore comprising total deposits of Rs 45,000 crore and advances of Rs 31,000 crore, during the current fiscal.

It was also proposed to increase the number of branches to touch 1,050 by March 2008, besides focussing on core deposits and improving deposits under current and savings accounts.
