South-West monsoon active in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, July 13 (UNI) South-West monsoon has been active over Kerala, while very light rain occurred in Lakshadweep.

Heavy to very heavy rain was reported in Perumbavoor 14 cm, Vaithiry 13 cm, Peerumedu and Konni 10 cm each, Vatakara and Mananthavady eight cm each and Mannarakkad seven cm, local weather office said.

The other chief amounts of rainfall in cm were Koilandy, Chengannur six each, Kannur, Manjeri, Thalassery, CIAL Kochi, Kozha, Munnar and Mankombu five each.

Rain would occur in most places in Kerala and isolated places in Lakshadweep, it said.

Isolated heavy rainfall was likely to occur in the state, it said and warned fishermen that strong onshore winds from the Westerly direction with speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph was likely along off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.
