Sexagenarian goes to jail for rape

Rourkela, July 13 (UNI) A 65-year-old man was today handed down to sentenced to eight years in jail after being convicted of raping a 50-year-old woman a year ago.

Rourkela Ad-hoc Additional Sessions Judge Sobhan Kumar Das held Baisakhu Tanti of Railway slum colony guilty for raping his neighbour. The Judge sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3000 and in default additional three months jail.

The convict was also sentenced to one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000 and in default one month additional jail term.

Both the sentences would run concurrently, the judge ordered.
