New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) The public transport situation in the city today eased further with additional buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation beginning operations this morning.

Sources in the DTC said an additional 500 DTC buses were today put into operation in the city, taking to 2800 the total number of buses of the trasnport corporation plying on the roads.

The sources said about 400 DTC buses stranded at various depots across the city for want of spare parts or due to various faults, were today pressed into service for public transport. These additional buses, together with the nearly 4000 bluelines, which were out on the roads yesterday, considerably eased the public transport situation in the city.

''As of today, the total number of DTC buses plying across Delhi is 2800,''sources in the corporation said.

The Delhi Transport department, meanwhile, issued a warning to auto rickshaw and taxi operators that anyone not plying their vehicles as per the notified fare would be meted strict action, including cancellation of the permit of the vehicle and driving license of the driver. In a public notice, the state government said anyone who found any auto or taxi operator not plying as per notified fare could complain on the helpline of the transport department on 42-400-400.

Also, continuing with its drive to ensure safe operation of blueline buses, the state Transport department, in a public notice, asked all drivers of blueline buses to undergo a one day driving test on simulators at the Automobile association of Upper India at Qutub institutional area or the driver training institute at Burari.
