PMK MP demands setting up of PG centre in Karaikal

Puducherry, July 13 (UNI) PMK parliamentary party leader Prof Ramadass today urged the Pondicherry Central University authorities to set up a Post Graduate (PG) centre in Karaikal region of the Union Territory.

In a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, he said Karaikal, the second biggest region of the Union Territory was 150 km away from Puducherry and 1.8 lakh people were residing there.

Though the Puducherry administration was taking special efforts for the develoment of Karaikal region, it remained backward economically and educationally, compared to other regions of Puducherry, Mahe and Yanam, he pointed out.

The Pondicherry Univesity should therefore start a PG centre in Karaikal and introduce MBA, MCA, MSW courses.

Talks have already been held with the territorial administration for getting building facility for the PG centre, he added.
