Shimla, July 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) today demanded the constitution of a monitoring committee to ensure the filling of posts in various departments of the state government.

Addressing a press conference here, NSUI leader Kewal Singh Pathania stressed the need for adopting a system under which the entire process of filling various posts should be completed within 18-20 days.

He said the NSUI in its recently held state executive meeting had decided to accord top priority for the creation of educational environment in the educational institutions across the state.

''We have voluntarily laid moratorium on pasting bills or writing on wall in Universities and colleges in the state,'' he said adding that NSUI hails implementation of recommendations of Lingdoh committee.

Mr Patania said in the ensuing educational session NSUI would put into practice the mission of emotional integration conceived by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, by spreading the message of 'National flag my religion'.

Lauding the efforts of state government in the field of education, he said, ''opening of 22 colleges and over 200 SCVT centers in a span of one year was significant in providing qualitative education.'' Detailing the proposed working of NSUI for the coming year, Patania said that under the tree plantation programme, NSUI activists would plant two lakh trees and would also organise debate and declamation contests in the state.
