Nine killed as Jeep plunges into open well in Rajasthan
Kota, July 13 (UNI) Nine people were killed when a jeep carrying pilgrims plunged into an open well near Bhawani Mandi in Jhalawar district this morning.
Jhalawar district police superintendent Rakesh Saxena said the dead belonged to Gharot in Mandesar district in Madhya Pradesh. They were on their way to a temple at Indragarh in Bundi district.
Mr Saxena said the jeep lost control in its effort to save a milkman on a cycle on the wrong side at Kandalkhedi and plunged into the open well on the roadside killing nine people on the spot.
They include five childen and two women.
However, Jeep driver Jitendra and five others survived with injury. Police has taken into custody the jeep driver.
