NASSCOM to hunt IT talent in North-east
Agartala, July 13 (UNI) With a view to expanding Information Technology (IT) education in North-eastern states, IT giant NASSCOM has taken up an initiative to conduct an aptitude test of the subject in the region.
Official sources here today said according to the plan, NASSCOM would conduct the test to assess the aptitude of about 20,000 students across all North-eastern states, including Sikkim during the period of September 2007 to January 2008.
State Information Technology Department officials said this test, named National Assessment of Competence (NAC), was the result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between NASSCOM and Union Ministry of Development of North-eastern Region (DoNER).
The DoNER ministry initiated the move under the IT promotion programme of the Centre in the backward regions of the country, aiming to encourage IT and computer education, along with the economic development of the region.
