Modern gadgets required to step up investigation: COD DGP
Hubli, July 13 (UNI) Corps of Detectives (COD) Director General of Police Ajaykumar Singh today stressed the need for equipping the COD with modern and hi-tech equipment for better investigation of cases.
Talking to newspersons here, he said that out of the 600 cases, 300 were still pending before the COD. He claimed that the success rate in detection of cases had improved a lot this year. Steps were being initiated to expedite investigation of the pending cases.
To a question, Dr Singh said there were half a dozen cases involving senior Government officials, but he refused to divulge details. He agreed that there was considerable rise in cyber crime, but refused to say anything about the United Kingdom terror attack and the hard discs recovered from the residence of Kafeel Ahmed, the prime accused in the case.
Asserting that there was scope for further improvement in the training of officials attached to COD, he said it was proposed to train officials by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on cyber crimes. The premier detective agency had agreed to train the State personnel in two or three courses of cyber crime detection.
