Military Intelligence chief reviews Manipur situation

Imphal, July 13 (UNI) Lt Gen DS Bartwal, Director General of Military Intelligence today reviewed the Manipur situation along with senior state and military personnel here.

The Intelligence chief had detailed discussion with the troops and the DGP, Manipur Police, Y Joykumar. The PRO of HQ IGAR South said the General had arrived yesterday at Imphal and will go back tomorrow.

He is also scheduled to meet large number of officials to review the Manipur situation. Maj Gen, Chengapa, IG, HQ , IGAR(S) briefed him about the prevailing security situation and the state of insurgency in Manipur.

Manipur is considered as one of the worst insurgency affected state in the country and large number of troops are stationed in the state. Maj Gen Chengapa, IGAR (S) is in charge of command at Imphal and Maj Gen, Handa, General Officer commands of 57 Mountain Division located at Leimakhong military headquarters, Senapati district of Manipur.
