Microsoft to conduct research in computing sec
Hyderabad, July 13: Microsoft Research India (MSR) would conduct a basic research in computing and engineering sciences relevant to Microsoft corporation's business and the global IT community.
It would focus on the technology for emerging markets and underserved communities, multi-language computing system, software productivity, sensor network and geographical information systems.
Addressing a press conference here today, Microsoft Research India (MSR) Managing Director P Anandan said the TechXchange was a unique opportunity for MSIDC and MSR to showcase some of their important innovations, technologies and products.
He said the MSR and MSIDC had already been collaborating on innovative productions, such as Multipoint, which enables multiple input devices such as mice and keyboards on a PC simultaneously, allowing a number of children to use a computer at the same time.
He said the results of the two TechXchange, which concluded today, would see collaborations in the fields of software engineering, Multilingual systems, mobile networks and applications as all emerging market technologies with other possible areas of collaboration emerging in the future.
The Microsoft Indian Development Centre (MSIDC) Vice-President and Managing Director Srini Koppolu said the Hyderabad Centre was the second largest product development centre for the software giant after its headquarters in Redmond which played an important role in contributing to innovation at Microsoft.
The Hyderabad centre was a leader in creating intellectual property from India with teams having end-to-end responsibility on more than 50 microsoft products, features or technologies shipped to a global clientele.
He said the recent achievements of the centre was configuration of Windows Vista, Virtual PC 2007, Mobility centre for excellence and development of RFId and Adapters platosms.
The vision of the MSIDC was to innovate from India to drive global business growth and empower the next billion customers in emerging markets and the main goals of the centre was strategic IP sensitive, long-term oriented software development efforts, technology innovations, incubations and product-related research, he added.
